Client: University of Colorado Denver

LynxConnect at the Tivoli takes a visionary approach to reimagining key spaces in an historic building, transforming the former Starz Theater into an innovative space for education, collaboration, and connection. This renovation prioritized the careful preservation of the building’s historic character, while finding creative ways to bring daylight and campus views into the previously dark and enclosed theater space. All facade changes, including reopening old spandrel windows and a new public entrance in place of the old box office, went through extensive design review with the Auraria Higher Education Center. An early selective demolition phase exposed hidden features of the building’s structure that were not initially apparent on early site visits, allowing for earlier detail clarity and closer coordination between architects and engineers.

This new home for four university offices; Career Center, Experiential Learning, Global Education: Study Abroad, and Undergraduate Research, utilize the transparency and openness of the space to foster connection; between students and faculty, campus partners, and industry leaders. LynxConnect is poised to inspire generations to come, creating a lasting impact on the campus and the broader Denver community.
